Man Admits To Killing Washington Woman In Greenville Murder

A man charged with killing a woman last year has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

Max Tejada was originally charged with murder for the death of Hope Cutler of Washington. The woman was stabbed back in June 2012 at Sedge-Field Apartments in Greenville.

Police said the two were in a relationship and witnesses told them they saw the two in a dispute and as Cutler began to use a cell phone, Tejada threw it on the pavement and stabbed her multiple times.

As part of a plea bargain, Tejada pleaded guilty to second degree murder. He was given the maximum sentence, and will have to serve at least 20 years in prison.

District Attorney Kimberly Robb says she left it up to Cutler's family as to whether they pursue first degree murder and the family opted for closure in the woman's death.
