NEW INFO: Washington Police Investigate Murder

Police in Washington now say a shooting that resulted in a power blackout is now a murder.

The victim, George Harvey of Grimesland, was hit by at least one gunshot wound and died at the scene.

Police say around 9:40 p.m. they responded to multiple calls of shots fired and power outages in the 600 block of Wilson Street. Harvey's car had struck two utility pole guy wires. Witnesses tell WITN News they saw three men in the area moments before they heard multiple gunshots.

Power was restored around midnight.

The 40-year-old Harvey has a lengthy criminal record dating back to 1990. He has been convicted of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and several drug charges. He was last released from prison in 2008.

The power is back on in a Washington neighborhood after a car crashed into a utility pole, which is somehow tied to a shooting.

Washington police say they responded to the 600 block of Wilson St. around 9:20 p.m. where a person was shot. A car also crashed into a utility pole there, which knocked out power for some.
