A man accused of statutory rape is behind bars after reportedly pleading guilty to some of the crimes against him.
Kenneth Manning, 59, of Hyde County arrested in 2009 and charged with multiple sex crimes, including statutory rape. The Washington Daily News reports the judge in the case accepted the plea deal, which prevents other victims from pressing charges against Manning, so that the victims in this case would not have to testify and relive the crimes committed against them.
The Daily News says Manning was sentenced to 18 to 23 years in prison.
According to the Washington Daily News, the assistant district attorney told the judge that Manning's victim, a young man, suffers from flashbacks and nightmares and is now staying in a group home for victims of sexual abuse.
