There's good news and bad news from new numbers out today on the unemployment picture.
State numbers show unemployment rates dropped in 74 of the 100 counties in the state, but most of those counties where the rate did go up are here in Eastern Carolina.
Twenty counties saw an increase in November, 13 of those here in the east. Data shows Hyde County with the biggest jump of 1.9%, while Washington County was next with a 1.3% jump. Other counties seeing an increase were Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Onslow, Pamlico, and Pasquotank counties.
On the plus side, Lenoir County saw the biggest drop in the number of those unemployed in the east, dropping 0.7%. Craven dropped 0.4%, while Pitt and Beaufort counties were down 0.3% in November.
