It didn't take long for two women shown on camera allegedly stealing gas to come forward.
WITN showed the video Monday night of the gas drive-offs at the Bath General Store and at the White Post Store on Highway 92, both in Beaufort County.
Deputies say Taneisha Smith and Hope Blount have both been charged with misdemeanor larceny.
Store owners say they got a call at 10:00 a.m. saying the two had turned themselves in after seeing themselves on TV. Friends of the women also reportedly called to let them know they were caught on camera as well.
A pair of gas-stealing ladies struck again Monday in Beaufort county.
Deputies say last weekend they hit the Bath General Store, and now only a little over a week later they're accused of stealing gas from the White Post Store on Route 92. Owner Nancy Brickhouse said the employee at the time didn't realize what was happening until it was too late.
By the time she looked at them again, they had already pumped their gas, stopped and closed up their tanks, and got back in their cars and they just left," said Brickhouse.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Department was unable to comment on their progress in the investigation. Penalties for stealing gas in North Carolina include fines and license suspensions.
