We've had several reports of a fire behind Lowe's in Washington.
Producer Pritch Strong checked it out and found there was a field burning on Springs Road between Market Extension and Highway 17 in Washington. People began to notice smoke about 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, and within about an hour there were large plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles.
The Washington Fire Department says they were alerted by the landowner who has a burn permit to burn off the field Wednesday evening. A firefighter told us the fire could last into the late evening and will produce more smoke throughout the night, but they are monitoring the fire.
