Father Dies In Crash Less Than A Year After Son Was Killed In Accident

A man is dead following a crash in Beaufort County early this morning.

Lawmen say 41-year-old Christopher Spain died after his truck ran off the road and struck a tree.

It happened on Betsy Elbow Road, near Slatestone Road, outside of Washington, around 3:00 a.m.

Troopers say Spain's truck was traveling too fast for the curve.

The crash happened a little over a mile from where Spain's son, 22-year-old Christopher "Joey" Spain Jr., died in a crash in September 2011.
