Police say an elderly man who was run over by a log truck Monday afternoon has died from those injuries.
Washington police identify the victim as 83-year-old Earle Wells of Washington.
Police say the man was crossing John Small Avenue in front of the Food Lion just before 3:00 p.m. when he was run over.
There will be no charges against the log truck driver as police say there's no indication he did anything wrong.
Police say they learned Tuesday morning that Wells died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
An elderly man was seriously injured after being hit by an 18-wheeler this afternoon.
Washington police say it happened on John Small Avenue in front of the Food Lion near Eastern Elementary School. It's not clear if the man was walking in the street, or trying to cross at the time of the accident.
The man was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital and is being transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Police say they are still trying to locate any relatives of the victim and have not yet released his name.
