Troopers Say No Charges After Driver Found In Fatal Hit & Run

The Highway Patrol believes it has located the man responsible for hitting and killing a woman with his vehicle in the East, and they will not be charging him.

Troopers tell WITN News that Sylvester Godette, Jr. of Washington contacted them, saying he may have been the one responsible for hitting Wanda Ore. The Chocowinity woman was killed as she was walking down Mill Road on the evening of November 28th.

Godette told the Highway Patrol that he didn't know that he had hit the woman--and found out several days later about the death on the road.

An inspection of his car found a part of the woman's clothing under his car.

Trooper Darrell Pugh say they don't believe Godette knew what he had hit and after speaking with the district attorney lawmen feel they don't have enough to go forward with any charges.

The victim's clothing was found attached to his vehicle, is this not evidence? What kind of connections does he have to get off so easily? Channel 7, you have a real story here. Dig deeper, I'll bet you find story #2.

i feel like that is bs that road have enough lights on it for you to be able to see late at night. and like the others have said you know when you hit something i think he had to been drinking or high. i think my school mate family deserve justice and peace even though locking him up wont never bring her back but at least something has been done about some one killing they love one because people want to drive crazy.

It's truly amazing how the letter of the "law" works but then again I guess "law" takes a vacation when it comes to true justice. There are a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to this story. But then again I guess everything doesn't have be worded when you have to read between the lines. This story is truly disturbing and really show how unjust a society we live in.
