Investigators say a man led them on a vehicle chase after they attempted to serve an arrest warrant.
On Friday, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says they tried to pull over Shawn Hogan on West 5th Street near Grimes Road in Washington. Deputies say Hogan stopped the vehicle, but sped off as investigators approached the car.
The sheriff's office says the 41-year-old Hogan led investigators on a chase through Washington, while throwing cocaine out of the window at several locations. Deputies say the Belhaven man was taken into custody near the Makin Tracks Gas Station after his vehicle struck a patrol car.
Investigators say they were able to recover about 20 grams of cocaine from different locations, including Hogan's vehicle.
Hogan is now facing multiple drug charges including three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony fleeing to elude, and injury to personal property. He's being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $42,000 secured bond.
