Two Adults, Child Taken To Hospital After Crash On Highway 264

Three people were taken to the hospital late Friday afternoon after a serious crash on Highway 264 between Greenville and Washington.

It happened west of Pactolus.

A vehicle crashed ending upside down in the grass separating the four lanes. Debris was all over the road, in both the west and eastbound lanes. Officials say at least one person was pinned, and that there were two adults and one child in the vehicle.

There is no word how serious the injuries are or what caused the crash. The highway patrol tells WITN the vehicle was traveling east, went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and flipped over several times, landing upside down in the median.

As of 5:45 p.m., traffic remained tied up but was moving in both directions. Officials hoped to have the road fully opened by 6:00 p.m.

I can't believe that people today are so rude to bad mouth this poor family when they don't even know what happened. I was the first on the scene and he was NOT texting!! He was a 54 year old man who probably didn't even know how to text... The TRUTH is... straight from the drivers mouth into my ear... that he reached down to roll down his window (not electric) and ran off of the road then overcorrected. Yes, he took his eyes off the road. BUT there is not ONE person from anywhere in the U.S. that can say they have 100 percent kept their eyes on the road the ENTIRE time they were driving. I pray that this family is okay and home safe with their loved ones. It's a shame that people can be so hateful. It hurts my heart!

Wow, so ppl got into a wreck maybe got hurt and you guys are arguing about who's a better driver. I can't believe WITN would allow some of these comments. A friend of mine stopped and helped at this wreck, she sat with the person underneath the car talking to them and keeping them calm. I really hope none of ya'lls family are ever involved in a terrible accident because always remember what comes around goes around and ppl will talk and speculate about your family too. Hope you can handle it!

New York!!!!!.....being from the North doesn't make you better than anyone here in the South. It definetly doesn't make you any smarter. And the fact that you could care less about what happened to the family in that car makes you dumber than anyone here. Grow up.

What do they know about driving? Most people in NY don't drive, they walk or ride the subway, or possibly let a cabbie do their driving for them.
