Coast Guard Rescues Beaufort County Boater

The Coast Guard rescued a missing Beaufort County boater early Saturday morning in the Pungo River near Swan Quarter

According to Coast Guard officials a family member contacted them around 1:45 a.m. reporting that a 48-year-old man aboard a 23-foot boat did not return as expected at 10 p.m. Friday.

The Coast Guard then searched by helicopter and boat in the area. They were able to locate the boat around 6 a.m. and medevaced the man
reportedly suffering from a laceration and leg injury.

The man was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.
