Man Dies After House Fire On Birthday

One person is dead on his birthday after an early morning house fire in Beaufort County.

A neighbor spotted flames at 4 a.m. Friday at 105 Wedgewood Drive in Beaufort County, in the Tranters Creek Estates subdivision off Highway 264.

Police officials say 55-year-old Jeffrey Warren has died. They say Warren might have been asleep when the fire broke out, and they believe he lived alone.

Washington, Clarks Neck and Old Ford fire departments responded.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene, and the fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
