The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says a man accused of stealing a gun and checks from a residence where he was living is on the run and could be in Pennsylvania.
The sheriff's office says on December 4, 2012 they received a report of a larceny at a residence on Old Blounts Creek Road in Chocowinity. The victim reported that a firearm was stolen from the residence.
On December 13th they received a report of larceny of personal checks from the same residence.
Deputies learned the suspect, 23-year-old William Jefferson, was a resident of the household and relative of the victim.
Jefferson was indicted by a grand jury. He's charged with stealing a gun, forgery, and obtaining property by false pretense.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information on Jefferson's whereabouts to call them at (252)946-7111 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at (252)974-6400.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000.00 for information that leads to his arrest.
