BEAUFORT COUNTY: 50 Homes Damaged; Cooling Shelter Opens

Beaufort County authorities say Sunday afternoon's storm has caused damage throughout the county.

Emergency management officials say so far they have found 50 homes with moderate to major damage, and eight mobile home were destroyed.

The county says the three most impacted areas are near the airport, Springdale Mobile Home Park, and VOA Road.

A cooling shelter has opened this afternoon at P.S. Jones Middle School in Washington. Residents are being asked to please bring personal bedding and prescription medications with you to the shelter.

You can enter the school through the back bus entrance.
