Arrests Made In Washington $1.2 Million Armored Vehicle Heist

Three people have been indicted for last summer's armored car heist in Washington where more than a $1 million in cash was taken.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says two Person County men, Charles Moore, Jr. and Lenard Smith were indicted for the June 23rd hold-up at the Bank of American ATM on Carolina Avenue. The indictment says the two took approximately $1.2 million from the Garda armored vehicle as it was about to service the machine.

The two men were indicted Tuesday and appeared before a federal magistrate in Raleigh today.

A third suspect, Emmanuel Wallace III, also of Person County, was charged in a separate indictment last month.

During the robbery the two guards had their guns taken and afterward the company offered a $100,000 reward in the case.

Lol I know one of these idiots and even went to school with him and played basketball with him i thought he graduated but obviously they give anyone a degree ...it takes a dumb criminal to rob anything with just a skull cap on...they will never recognize my face but i have a very distinguished looking hair cut i will just cover this up.

Great job. I do find it odd that many of us "little people" are victims of robberies all the time, and investigators will openly tell you to your face that "we don;t have the resources to investigate or prosecute the crime". But, boy if someone takes something from a bank....good job nonetheless.

I agree with the setup. I'd like to know 1. where the guards are from and 2. if neither of them are from Person Co - what kind of ties do they have there?

I am so glad they have the criminals and really glad to know that they are not local people. But probably have local ties.

Inside job. Why else would to criminals from Person county happen to rob an armored car in Beaufort County first thing in the morning. I smell a setup!
