Several Horses Up For Adoption In Beaufort County

14 horses are now up for adoption in Beaufort County after being seized from their owner.

According to Beaufort County Manager Paul Spruill the horses were seized from an Aurora man a couple of weeks ago after a trial. Spruill tells us during that trial the owner was not convicted of a crime but the judge did make the owner hand them over. Spruill says they were living in poor conditions.

Right now the horses are being houses at two undisclosed locations for their protection.

Beaufort County Animal Control is accepting applications for the horses right now. Those applications need to be in by July 23rd. You can see pictures of the horses at the shelter.

Animal Lover; yeah, I did make a mistake, it was the typo in the first post... which you brought up. Much like I brought up the incompetence at the Sheriff's Dept... but thats right, you had rather go on blindly believing they are doing a good job. Ignorance is bliss. I would have liked it if the guy was charged and had to pay for his crime... it is good for these horses that they were taken, but what about the next ones?

At least disturbed learned how to spell. I believe the first posting was distrubed. I think whoever disturbed is was rubbed the wrong way at sometime in his/her life. I'm sure the officers carried out their duties from information that they received from Animal Control. They are all human everyone involved from law enforcement, animal control, the wonderful judical system that fails us everyday. They all make mistakes every now and then. Apparently the Judge must of seen some type of neglect or they would be in possession of the animals. I guess the officers stated their case well enough to make that happen. I hope your happy with that decision. Why don't you just let dead dogs lie. I'm sure you have made a mistake or two of your own. Quit being so mean. We don't want to hear any of your wise comments.

To Safe House: That would be Animal Control. The officers and certainly the Lt. did nothing to improve OR prevent the situation. I believe in giving "pats on the back" when deserved, this isn't one of them. They took a simple case that was handed to them and they (BCSO) screwed it up!... yet again.

Thank god the Officers were able to remove these animals from the poor conditions and neglect they were suffering in. Cudos to the Lt. and other officers that made that happen. Good job to all Officers involved. Thanks for a job well done.

Why wasn't the owner convicted of a crime? I'll tell you why, because the search warrant written by the Lt. Investigator (with two yrs experience) was thrown out of court! She put the wrong address and info on the warrant, so the property that was searched was done so illegally! Gosh, it sure would be nice to have competent officers protecting Beaufort County!
