Donation Ensures 4th Fireworks Along Washington Waterfront

It looked like Washington in Beaufort County was going to have to cancel its Fourth of July fireworks on the waterfront because of a lack of funding, but that's no longer the case thanks to a donation from a local company.

Washington events manager Kristi Hardison says, "the city of Washington was actually approached by Lee Chevrolet to sponsor the fireworks this year, which is a big surprise because otherwise we were not budgeted and we would not have had a 4th of July celebration."

The fireworks will start around 9:00 pm on the 4th.

Hey,what about this idea? Give that money back to the taxpayers instead of purchasing fireworks! No more GM products for me and all of that bailout money has not been repaid. Do your homework folks!

I would suggest Washington Park. DO NOT attempt to park near downtown. You will probably have a nervous breakdown. Good luck, and enjoy the show.

Pretty much anywhere downtown or on the waterfront. Parking will be the main concern.

Where is a good spot to see the fireworks in Washington?

Kristi.. Don't know how you were able to pull strings with the USCG, but great job. Lee Chev... AWESOME. Might purchase a Chevy, even though I am a Ford man. Now, if it was up to Hood Mercer, I mean Doug Mercer, we would never see fireworks. He is a thorn in Washingtons side. Must be the old age, or just ignorance.
