Beaufort County Deputies Make A Surprise Find: Deer & Drugs

Deputies made a surprising discovery after pulling over a pick-up truck for swerving early Friday morning in Beaufort County.

Authorities tell us they stopped a red Toyota pick-up truck around 3am after it was veering off the road.

Joseph Brown and Jim Buck were arrested by the Sheriff's Department, both in possession of marijuana but also something else.

Officials noticed fresh blood dripping from the back of the vehicle, that's when they discovered two-dead deer in the back.

Wildlife officers were called into help.

They told WITN Brown and Buck illegally shot and killed the deer, and this isn't the first time.

Both have previously been charged with illegally hunting deer.

I'd rather have the deer than the two jerks who killed them. As far as the marijuana charges, well, at least the guys weren't driving drunk.

guess they blew all their grocery money on weed so had to kill the deer to eat?

I'm sure this kind of activity goes on in all of Northeastern North Carolina. I know Martin, Bertie, and Washington counties have had this going on quite sometime while I was growing up. It's common around there.

Oh give me a home, where the white tail deer roam, and the hunters smoke weed all day. I wonder which is easier; firelighting deer or buying pot in Beaufort County?

Okay, my husband pays for a Hunting License each year. He abides by the 'hunt and tag' rules. He does not hunt outside of the regulations. Any comments?

Yes i do admit i was wrong for what i did, the truth is that the deer were already cleaned, and werent in the truck, ...just the bag of meat. I have learned a big lesson and certainly dont plan on doing this 'ever' again.

Joseph Brown admitted to shooting the dear, but the pot wasnt his but the other guys. I know Joseph real well, and the pot wasnt his. He does have a problem with shooting dear when its not in season. He dose not have a drug problem.
