Boy Scouts Gets Big Donation From Potash Corp.

The East Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America received a big donation Monday to fund a new facility.

Potash Corporation announced the more than 250-thousand dollar donation to Camp Boddie.

The money will help pay for a new building at the East Carolina Scout Reservation along the Pamlico River to be named the Potash-Corp Eco Lodge.

The lodge will be a full-service environmental education facility providing youth with hands-on environmental experiences.

It is expected to open in late summer or early fall of 2010.

While it's wonderful that Potash made such a generous donation, East Carolina Council needs to remember they have another site that NEEDS some major renovations. Camp Sam Hatcher is in desparate need of repairs. The Howard Lodge is UNSAFE.

While I appreciate the donation to the Boy Scouts in NC, it would be great if PCS would invest some money in Hamilton County, FL. Even though PCS has a mine and a plant located there, they rarely donate more than a few hundred dollars to community organizations. Hamilton County is the poorest county in FL and has little to no resources to improve the community.

Thank you, Potash Corp! We need more corporations to contribute to the wholesome education of our youth. I hope many more will follow suit.
