Senator Kay Hagan was in eastern Carolina Thursday touring manufacturing facilities in five different counties.
One of those tours took place at Fountain Powerboats in Beaufort County. Owner Reggie Fountain took Hagan on a tour through the entire plant. The Democratic senator met with many of the employees.
Fountain Powerboats recently emerged from bankruptcy and currently employs 70 workers--but since the partnership with Liberty Associates--the merger hopes to add 50 more jobs within the next couple of months.
Fountain says he hopes Senator Hagan will persuade congress to allow Fountain Powerboats to compete for military contracts. He wants to provide boats and services to the armed forces.
