A Beaufort County man is now registered to file for Congress.
Republican Ashley Woolard showed up to the Beaufort County Board of Elections Wednesday, surrounded by family and friends, and cast his bid for the first congressional district of North Carolina.
That means he'll try to unseat incumbent US Representative G.K Butterfield, a Democrat from Wilson in the general election.
34 year old Woolard lives in Washington and is an East Carolina graduate.
He told WITN his number one priority is bringing jobs to the area.
Woolard is the vice-president of his families insurance company and prides himself on being a small local business man.
He's also the chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party.
