A heating system problem forced the closure of Washington High School.
The high school dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Spokeswoman Sarah Hodges tells WITN News that an intermittent problem Monday morning with the school's heating system brought about the early closure.
Hodges says the problem is now fixed, but that it will take some time for the heat to build back up again so that is why classes were dismissed early.
That was good news for students.
"It was freezing," one student said. "It felt like we were outside!"
An alert from the school system Monday morning originally said the heating problem would be fixed by 9:00 a.m.
