There's new information about Saturday night's high speed chase by lawmen in Beaufort County.
Deputies have charged Carolino Perez with felony flee to elude arrest, DWI, injury to real property and no operators license.
A news release says around 9:10 p.m. Saturday night, deputies went to a domestic assault call on Hickory Drive. A deputy tried to talk with a man sitting in a SUV that was parked in front of the victim's home, but the vehicle sped off.
Deputies say they began chasing the SUV down River Road, with the vehicle driving around 80 miles per hour. As the SUV approached Asbury Church Road, the vehicle lost control, jumped a curb, struck a parked vehicle and then crashed into the La Guadelupana Tienda Mexicana store.
Deputies say two people inside the parked vehicle escaped injury, while the store employee received minor injuries from a door as she left the building.
The 24-year-old Perez was treated at the hospital before being arrested. He's in the Beaufort County jail on a $25,300 bond.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says a vehicle chase between a suspect and a Sheriff’s Deputy resulted in a crash into a grocery store.
Crews on the scene say at least one person was trapped when a Ford Explorer SUV collided with a vehicle before crashing into a grocery store in Beaufort County Saturday night. It happened about 930 p.m. at the store at the corner of River Road and Asbury Church road.
Beaufort County Sheriff Alan Jordan tells WITN that deputies were responding to an assault call at River Road Estates mobile home park when the suspect took off and a brief chase ensued. The suspect, who faces numerous charges, lost control, hit a vehicle with two passengers and then crashed into the grocery store. They were treated for minor injuries on scene.
A person closing the grocery store was injured when the vehicle struck the building. Both she and the suspect were transported to Beaufort County Medical Center.
Multiple fire rescue and law enforcement units responded to the scene.
