The search for a missing sail boat and its captain have ended.
The mariner was located at the Red River Marine on the Pungo River and is alive.
Captain Marc Newton told authorities that he had his cell phone but that it was off.
A Coast Guard search is underway for a missing sailboat.
The "Choirloft", a 30-foot white sailboat with red trim, was last seen near Belhaven Sunday afternoon. Captain Marc Newton is onboard the boat with his dog.
The Coast Guard was contacted around 7:00 p.m. Sunday night that the Toledo, Ohio man was missing. They say he was planning to sail the Intracoastal Waterway to Florida.
The Coast Guard says his last cell phone call was made Monday around 12:25 p.m. but they were unable to trace its location. A 25-foot rescue boat from Emerald Isle is searching the Intracoastal in that area, and the Coast Guard says it may ask Pedro, a rescue helicopter from Cherry Point, to make some flights Tuesday afternoon.
The Coast Guard has also alerted other vessels and marinas in the area to be looking out for the missing boat.
