Interim Superintendent Leaves Beaufort County

The interim superintendent for Beaufort County Schools has resigned.

William Rivenbark resigned because of his wife's health problems.

School officials say John Conway, the assistant superintendent, has taken over Rivenbark's duties.

Rivenbark was appointed to interim superintendent when superintendent Jeff Moss left for another job. Rivenbark was supposed to stay in the position until the end of the year when the school board planed to appoint a new superintendent to the post.

School officials say they are in the process of looking for that new superintendent.

Mr. Conway was an excellent principal for Chocowinity Primary School and we are sure he will be an excellent temporary superintendent for Beaufort County Schools. We wish him all the best.
