NEW INFO: Man Sought In Washington Double Shooting

There is now a suspect in Tuesday afternoon's shooting that wounded two Washington men.

Police are looking for Omar Blount of East 7th Street. The 28-year-old is wanted for attempted first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Two men were shot at 7th and Respess Streets, a street corner known for crime in Washington. Police say William Bailey III of Gladden Street and George Harvey of Grimesland were both shot in the legs and had non-life threatening injuries.

The Department of Correction says Blount served time in prison for several drug offenses and was last released in August of 2004.

Current court calendars show Blount is supposed to appear Thursday in Pitt County to answer cocaine charges and a charge of assault on a government official. In Beaufort County Blount has pending cocaine charges as well.

Anyone with information about the location of Blount should contact Washington police 252-946-1444 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers 252-974-9400.

Previous Story

Two people have been shot in Washington at a street corner that is well known for crime.

It happened around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of 7th & Respess Streets.

Police are now searching for the gunman.

Investigator say both victims had non-life threatening injuries to their legs.

Initial reports say one of those shot rode his bicycle to the Holiday Inn where his girlfriend works. The other victim showed up on his own to the emergency room at Beaufort County Medical Center.

Detectives say they are investigating several accounts of what took place and are unable to release detailed information yet.

Police say Tuesday's shooting does not appear to be related to last Tuesday’s armed carjacking, but they are examining all possibilities.

Anyone who has information is urged to call Washington Police Department 252-946-1444 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers 252-74-6400.

Just like the bible tells us, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."No, what has happeded is not right but remember they are someone's children and this really hurts. Let's encourage each other and pray the God ,that something positive comes out of this.People spend more time pointing fingers then helping the less fortunate. Its kind of rough in Lil Washington.I lives there for 25 years, and I might add, that I hated every minute of it.I was young and kind of caught up in moment.I thank God everyday for the person that talk some sense into me and told me,Washington is only a place to go back and visit,no reason to stay..Everytime I pick up the phone,to call someone down there,I'm on the phone for hours, because I;m listening to all the drama..Washington is to small for all this crime.I thank the Washington Police Department are doing the best they can.Everybody needs a break, the police and state payers.

Sisters get a grip on your children , i think it's the parents fault , stop blaming it on where they live & making up all kinds of excuses , these boys are raised by single black women( not an excuse either )but you ar more concerned about going to the club& "your man than raising your children , now they are grown up committing all kinds of crimes & you want to blame it on society- No Ma it's you.Mothers take time for your kids when they are small - teach them right from wrong - As the good book says "Train up a child in the way they should go & when they're old they wont depart.Take your kids to church!and keep them there!Stop trying to let the streets raise your kids bcuz you wont take the time to do it yourself.

That issue has not been brought to the light!! Just maybe the shooter was protecting his own life!! hasn't been in the news that the so called victims pulled the guns first! lol people only believe what they want because it is easier! "attempted murder" charge but they were shot in the leg lol come on people everyone your told are victims are not the true victims. nc doc pull the names and check "The victims" records i did!

Maybe if the WPD hired a few black police officers and recruited some quality, young black people that want to live in a better city a few more crimes would be solved. It took them 8 weeks to arrest a guy the whole town new was guilty of the Little John's shooting. Glorifying the inmate culture and the "Stop Snitching" mentality doesn't help much when Five-O, Whitey comes along asking questions. All together now "If the heat don't get me then the drugs sure will, stirrin' scotch and soda's with a twenty dollar bill. Black got my back, baby, happy or sad. If I / fall out of your favor, don' get mad. / If the heat don't get ... the quick release, and don't rat me out to ..." Time to wise up and read a Bill Cosby book. His new book continues to tar black communities and the black poor as dysfunctional, chronic whiners, and eternally searching for a government hand-out. Time to find role models other than rappers and inmates. It's a dead end - literally.

Purebread! You apparently don't get out much and don't read well. THEY are folks have told us we won't amount to anything. THEY are the ones that have the deep rooted belief that we are animals because that is what their parents taught them. If I have to completely characterize who they are for you then, you will never get my message. If you read one of the earlier posts, you would see that one of the readers characterized the criminals as THEY and seemed to stereotype us as animals. Even made a reference to breeding like rabbits. now while I will assume that you are intelligent enough to know that not all of us like that, when our people consistently behave like this, they can be entitled to some of THEIR deep rooted beliefs. It is our job to stop this madness and prove them WRONG. So before you comment about peoples parents and how you have seen so much more than me (u r only 6 yrs older) read a little more thoroughly first, OK??
