Animal Therapy Helps Cancer Patients

A new therapy program in Beaufort County for cancer patients is trying to lift their spirits, and it all revolves around one chocolate Labrador and his determined owner.

Lalla Sidbury and Kasey are a team at the Marion Shepard Cancer Center as they help cancer patients through their chemotherapy treatments.

The idea started Back in 2000 when she was diagnosed with cancer. Her dog at the time helped her get through the ordeal.

Lalla and Kasey visit the cancer center at least once a week for the center's new animal-assisted therapy program.

You can still buy tickets for the cancer center's "Shaggin' For A Cause" event Friday night. WITN's Dave Jordan will be emceeing the fundraiser at Washington's Civic Center. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds go to the cancer center.
