Free Energy Saving Kits For Washington Utility Customers

Washington Utilities Spokeswoman Andrea McClain tells WITN they handed out 100 energy saving kits last month with things like a box fan, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and refrigerator thermometers. They hope these items along with instructions will help customers cut back on their bills.

The program is aimed at assisting low income customers and has ended for this year but if you would like to sign up for a free kit next year contact McClain at 252-975-9324.

I agree with Mikey, I live on the East end of town near Havens Gardens and I lose power regularly.

How about just giving us what we have to pay dependable electricity! I am tired of losing power on a weekly basis. I live in town and this is the worst utility supplier I have ever seen. On top of poor electrical service they overcharge for water and sewer. Are our taxes not paying for anything anymore? Taxes go up and services go down!

It sure would have been nice to have read this BEFORE the give away ended. Why post after the fact? Also, I am pretty sure these items were donated by the companies who made them. Washington Utilities is making a killing off of us!!!!

the word "free" kinda sticks out here, like a sore thumb. Did these kits fall out of the sky and washington utilities pick them all up? I dont think so, some one is paying for these kits. So, therefore the cost is being passed on. Buzz-

Perhaps the state would not be so broke if we stopped giving things away
