Duke Energy officials said a crew is making permanent repairs Thursday after a substation problem put 5,000 people in the dark Wednesday night.
Officials told WITN power went out around 10 p.m. Wednesday in the Beaufort County town. That outage lasted nearly an hour after a substation failed.
Residents tell WITN power has been spotty in the area for at least two weeks.
Duke Energy said they have a crew on site making a permanent repair to the substation, but they are unsure how long that repair would take. They noted the repair should not affect any customers.
