68-Year-Old Man Charged With Statutory Rape

A Pantego man is accused of the statutory rape of a teenager.

Jurden Bell, Jr. is charged with statutory rape of a person who is 13,14, or 15 years old by a defendant who is at least six years older than the victim.

Beaufort County deputies say back in December they received a report from the Washington County Department of Social Services involving a sex offense that occurred in the Pantego area.

Deputies say they began an investigation and on Monday they received an arrest warrant for Bell.

They say additional charges are pending against the 68-year-old Bell, who had bond set at $50,000 secured.

Community people saw what was happening and if you didn't you had your head in the sand. Most of us in the Wenona area would love to see the drug traffic cleaned up because we see that too but the police fail to follow up on tips and it makes you wonder what to do, I watched a drug deal go down while the Highway Patrol was 100 yards away writing a seatbelt ticket.I told the Washington Co police where it was happening and nothing happened.

How long will it take the media to follow-up on pending charges and the results mentioned in a prior comment. If JB didn't have money and good standing in the community this case would be plastered all over. Politics and money speak loud and clear in the good ole boy network.

I grow up in pinetown, I way io see it is that JB is a grown man if he messed with somone under 18 he gets what he deserves. On the other hand if he did'nt I hope the truth comes and and charges should be filed against this girl and her parents.

This was a setup because why would JB do that when he knows, best.... So whatever I know Jb and he will do anything in the worl for anyone.. So you can it here and say whatever, but the Bell family is caring and a lovong family..

This was not a setup. He hung himself all by himself. There may be others involved also. And if you think this is rocking the community, what would they do if some of the local drug haulers were caught and charged. Might be a surprise or two there too.

To the entire Bell family my condolences for the anguish that you are going through. No matter whether innocent or guilty, it is the family that has to live with this whole thing as well and they are my friends. Pray the truth comes out no matter what and that the appropriate justice be made. The Bell family has always been a big part of Pungo and they need our support now. God bless all of you during this time and just know you still have friends. If Mr. Bell did do this, I'll continue to support the family, they are good people. What everyone needs to do is sit back and let the courts do their job, be they right or wrong, it is the American way. Everyone that has blogged on here I am sure has done something they are not proud of. Don't let something like this tear a loving community apart.

First off he is charged not found guilty. I hate this blogging stuff because people come on here and bash people they don't know which is probably a the same gossipping people from the store in Pungo. JB is a good person and he's ruined regardless. The same people who need to worry about there own lives and quit thinking they do no wrong. People see this and already see him as he has done the crime. But, I bet someone in your family needed his help and he came through and didn't ask for anything in return. So, we will see what will happen.

None of us know what happened. Point is Good parents would have been around from the start and this would have never happened. Maybe instead of fighting and bickering which doesn't do anything but make us all look STUPID. We should just pray for this situation. Pray for JB. Pray for the innocent little girl. Pray for the parents. It's just a sad situation all the way around. This child will always have issues to deal with that she doesn't deserve. I don't know about her family but I feel for JB's. They are nice people.
