Highway 102 Reopens In Beaufort County

Highway 102 reopened Thursday morning after crews completed repair work on a bridge near the Beaufort-Pitt county line.

Repairs on the substructure of a bridge is forcing some motorists to take a 9.5 mile long detour for the rest of the week.

The Department of Transportation says Highway 102, south of Chocowinity -- between the Pitt/Beaufort county line and Highway 17, will be closed for the repair work.

The 9.5 mile detour takes travelers on Leary Mills Road, Cayton Road and Barr Road. The D.O.T. says Highway 102 should reopen by Friday at 5:00 p.m.

i like the pop-ups associated with clicking on every story on this site.I've looked at 6 stories and i have 6 repeat pop-ups.wonder how many I would have if I didn't have the pop-up blocker on.Melissa they are doing a good job,but they aren't using scissors to cut the grass and it really isn't growing year round. They milk the clock,we've all seen it.Not to mention the "bosses" who sit in the truck, insuring quality control of the people in charge of making sure the shovel doesn't run away. You have to lean on a shovel just so to make sure it doesn't get up and run off.

I have you know that there is only 30-38 DOT workers in Beaufort Co., which about 8-10 of them have to do the mowing required for the county. So for the 30 that maintain our roads here, keep up the good work!

No doubt jojo, that is exactly how the state works.... 2 people working, and 10 standing around picking their noses.

How many times is the DOT going to fix this bridge that is 12 feet long? They fixed it just a year ago.
