The Washington Riptides U14 Boys secured first place in their division of the Down East Soccer Club by winning two games this weekend in Rocky Mount. The Riptides and Franklin Fire played a double-header at the Old Carriage Road Soccer Complex Saturday.
Washington beat Rocky Mount 2-1 in the first game. Scoring for the Riptides were Turner Fottler and Daniel Crozier. Strong midfield performances were turned in by David Giordano and Lee Hodges. Strong defensive performances were turned in by Thomas Hall, Robert Sandy and Hunter Wood.
Washington beat Rocky Mount 3-0 in the second game. Scoring for the Riptides were Seth Derner, David Giordano and Thomas Hall. Hunter Wood had an assist to Hall. Turner Fottler turned in a strong offensive performance. Trey Main and Lee Hodges played goalie for the Riptides in the shutout.
The U-14 Boys travel to Greenville Sunday for their final game of the 2009 spring season. They will take on the Stars at 3:30 p.m. at the PGSA Soccerplex.
