New information from the family of a man who authorities say crossed the center line and ran into a canal.

The Highway Patrol says it happened when 82 year old Clarence Beacham was on Turkey Trot Number 2 in Beaufort County Thursday morning.

A family member who called our newsroom, told us Clarence has a pre-existing heart condition and blacked out behind the wheel before running into the 5 or 6 feet deep canal.

His family says a close friend followed Clarence after he left a store saying he didn't feel well.

That friend got into the water and convinced Beacham to get out of the submerged car. Beacham managed to get out of the car and was taken to the hospital where his family says he's in stable condition.

I certainly expected to hear more on the news yesterday and today about the rescue of Clarence Beacham by Billy Braddy. The 2 second interview today was certainly not the full interview, I hope. The dog in the explosion yesterday got more coverage on you news than a true hero - Billy Braddy.
