The Little Washington Sailing Club is gearing up to teach area youth the basics of sailing.
The school will be held this summer, starting in June. Each class will last two weeks, with three hours of instruction per day. Kids age 10 to 18 are welcome to take part. No sailing or boating experience is necessary, but the participants must be able to swim. The students will be taught to sail 14' boats.
The Estuarium docks will be the base of operations. There is a fee for the program, but there are also opportunities for tuition assistance in some cases. Tuition for each two-week school is $200.
To learn more about the program, you can go to Carolina Winds on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. You can also call DWOW at (252)946-3969 or Nan McLendon at (252)945-2324.
Carolina Winds is located at Havens Wharf at 411 West Main Street in Washington.
