The U-14 Riptides Boys traveled to Kinston on Saturday morning to play the Kinston Hurricanes in Down East Soccer competition. The Riptides came from behind to defeat Kinston 3-1. Christian Crompton scored two goals and Jeff Bennett added one. Keeper Trey Main had multiple saves to preserve the victory.
The U-14 Boys traveled back to Washington to play the Rocky Mount/Franklin Fire in the afternoon. The Riptides rallied in the final five minutes to secure a 4-4 tie. Scoring for the Riptides were Daniel Crozier, Alex Donadio, Turner Fottler, and David Giordano. Alex Donadio also had two assists.
The Riptides are currently in first place in the U-14 Boys division of the Down East Soccer Club with a record of two wins and one tie. They will host Kinston this Saturday at 3:00.
The U-12 Boys played New Bern on Saturday at the McConnell Sports Complex and posted a 4-1 victory. Goals were scored by Lupe Barrera (2), William Tate, and Sergio Dominguez. Keeper Neil Jennings had a very strong second half and denied multiple shots on goal by New Bern. The U-12 Boys are tied for first place in the DESC Old North division with a 3-0 record. They will host Kinston on Saturday for a noon match at the McConnell Soccer fields.
The U-12 Riptides Girls battled the Greenville Stars to a 0-0 tie in the final game of the day on Saturday. The U-12 Girls had multiple scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize. Keeper Emily Alligood and fullback Warner Little turned in strong defensive performances to shut out the Stars. The U-12 Girls are tied for fifth in the DESC with a record of
They will play two home games this Saturday against the Wilson Explosion White at 1:30 and the Rocky Mount Wildfire at 4:30.
