UPDATE: Beaufort County Schools say that students and staff will return Thursday to Bath Elementary School as classes will resume.
A Beaufort County elementary school will remain closed Wednesday because of a water problem.
Officials say Bath Elementary School dismissed students at 1:00 p.m Tuesday.
The school system says a water main break in Bath forced them to close the school.
Even though water service has been restored in Bath, the school system says it's keeping the school closed for both students and staff until tests come back on the water supply.
Bath town administrator Bubs Carson says the leak was repaired early Tuesday afternoon and as a precaution residents are being told to boil their water before using it for human consumption.
He says a contractor broke the water main on Carteret Street Tuesday morning.
