Arrest Made In Washington Gas Station Robbery

Officials say quick thinking by a local trooper and a little luck landed one man behind bars for allegedly robbing a Washington gas station.

it happened at the Phillips 66 on Bridge Street Wednesday night. Authorities tell WITN a suspect walked in and demanded cash, then took off in a red van.

At the same time, a trooper in Beaufort County happened to be nearby and said he noticed a car swerving, pulled it over, and arrested the driver inside for a DWI. The driver, Ray Charles Keyes, was also the suspect wanted in connection to the robbery.

More than $1,200 was recovered.
