May 10, 2014 Folks from near and far showed up to paddle from Greenville all the way to Washington to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.
The Paddle For Kids event featured a 4-mile fun paddle and a longer 22-mile paddle that stretched from the Tar River in Greenville all the way to the Pamlico River in Washington.
WITN’s Sports Director Billy Weaver headed up the event. Billy has been involved with the Children's Miracle Network for years and wanted to start a fundraiser of his own.
Program Director Laura Lee Potter says the event was very successful for the first year with over 50 people who participated.
"What a great way for people to get involved who love to kayak, canoe or use their paddle board to raise funds for the children’s hospital," said Potter
All of the funds raised through Saturday’s event will benefit the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center.
