RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Class 4-A champion Charlotte Harding headlines the 2017 Associated Press all-state prep football team for North Carolina.
Running back Quavaris Crouch, offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn and defensive back Malik Dunlap made the 30-man squad after voting by 19 statewide media members in results released Thursday. The three selections were the most for any school this year, while third-year coach Sam Greiner was voted AP coach of the year after leading Harding to its first state title since 1953.
Greenville Conley quarterback Holton Ahlers was voted state offensive player of the year, while Shelby linebacker Dax Hollifield was named state defensive player of the year.
Conley, Charlotte Mallard Creek, Elizabeth City Northeastern and 3-AA champion New Hanover also had two picks each.
