CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (WITN) - The commander of the Wounded Warrior Battalion-East has been relieved of his duties.
The Marine Corps says it has lost trust and confidence in Lt. Col. Chris Hrudka.
A spokesman for the Wounded Warrior Regiment said Hrudka was relieved based on issues stemming from a command investigation. Two civilian staff members were also placed on administrative leave.
"The Wounded Warrior Regiment is committed to the care and recovery of our wounded, ill, and injured service members and holds our leaders to the highest standards," the regiment said in a statement.
Wounded Warrior Executive Officer Lt. Col. Larry Coleman will temporarily lead the battalion, while Hrudka has been re-assigned to another unit at Camp Lejeune.
Hrudka was named commander at Wounded Warrior Battalion-East in June 2016.
