Woman charged with church embezzlement

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Deputies say the search is over for a woman who is accused of stealing from a church.

Jewel Scott, 46, was wanted by Craven County deputies on outstanding warrants for embezzlement.

The Vanceboro woman is accused of stealing from Queen Chapel Church in Vanceboro.

Deputies put her photograph out last week, hoping that someone knew where she was.

Scott is now charged with four counts of felony embezzlement, two counts of felony forgery, and obtaining property by false pretense.

The woman appeared in court Tuesday morning on the charges.
