LILLINGTON, HARNETT COUNTY (WITN) - Christmas eve ended tragically for one family in North Carolina after a tree caught fire at a family home.
Harnett County deputies say Sarah Beddingfield was unable to get out in time after the fire spread through her home.
Her husband and two daughters were able to escape the burning home around 10:20 p.m. Sunday.
One of the girls suffered minor burns and she was later hospitalized.
The fire started shortly after the family returned home from church services in a nearby town, where Beddingfield's husband is the pastor.
Deputies are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
