WITN's Teacher of the Week: Richard Diamond of P.S. Jones Middle School

This week's WITN Teacher of the Week is Richard Diamond of P.S. Jones Middle School.

Richard Diamond is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado. He graduated from Brigham Young University Idaho and then attained his teaching certification through the NC Teach program at East Carolina University. Diamond has been teaching for three years, all of which have been at P.S. Jones Middle School in Washington, North Carolina.

Diamond says he loves teaching, and with it has found a passion for coaching as well. He says, “I enjoy seeing my students both in the classroom and out where they are doing something that they love. I just want to make a difference.”

Diamond has been married to his wife, Alexandria, for what will be 7 years this July. He says, “I have two wonderful children, a 5 year old boy named Carson and a 3 year old girl named Peyton.”

The student who nominated him said, “He knows what we need to learn and the right expectations for us. He's not mean. He know when to make you laugh. He is amazing at teaching English language arts and reading books. When we do projects they are always so fun and joyful.”
