WITN's Teacher of the Week: Rachel Anderson from HB Sugg-Sam Bundy

By  |

Rachel Anderson is a first grade teacher at H.B. Sugg / Sam D. Bundy Elementary School in Farmville.

She is a Greenville native and attended JH Rose High School and graduated from ECU in 2014. This is her third year of teaching.

Anderson says she absolutely loves teaching first grade and loves teaching in Farmville, what she calls "a small community with a big heart."

She also spent a month teaching in Ghana, Africa this summer, an experience she says helps her bring her best each day to the classroom in Farmville.

A colleague nominated Anderson, writing "I would like to nominate Ms. Rachel Anderson, a first grade teacher at H.B. Sugg / Sam D. Bundy Elementary School in Farmville, NC. Rachel has been teaching for 3 years. I have had the opportunity to watch her grow and blossom as an educator. She absolutely loves her kiddos and always goes above and beyond what is expected. It is evident that her kiddos love and respect her, also!! As a novice teacher, she has taken on the responsibility of heading our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) committee for the past two years - quite an undertaking for a beginning teacher. Rachel has a heart of pure gold. She traveled to Africa over the summer where she continued her love of teaching kids. We are blessed to have this genuine spirit as one of our own! "
