WITN's Teacher of the Week: Jamie Bradsher at John Cotton Tayloe

Jamie Bradsher from John Cotton Tayloe in Washington is the teacher of the week for Wednesday.

Bradsher was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in Hillsborough, NC. He received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UNC - Greensboro. He went to East Carolina and received his Master's in Education. This is his 11th year teaching, and he has always taught third grade at John Cotten Tayloe in Washington.

Bradsher writes: “My sister, who is also a teacher, persuaded me to give teaching a try… I always look forward to going to school each day because of the smiles on the children's faces. Each day is a new day and new experiences occur daily. It would be great if more males would become elementary teachers because a lot of children do not have fathers at home. I am lucky to get to be a father figure to so many children who do not have a father around.”

Bradsher says he is married to his beautiful wife and has two beautiful daughters, one who is eight and the other age two.

The person who nominated him wrote: “My little girl is in his class this year and she can’t stop talking about how good he is at teaching. He has made school fun.”
