WITN's Teacher of the Week for November 29 is Lori Roberson of Northeast Elementary in the Belhaven/Pinetown area of Beaufort County.
Roberson teaches Career and Technical Education (CTE) for seventh through twelfth grade students. Previously she taught 6th grade for 16 years. Roberson graduated from Lawrence Academy in Merry Hill before going to Barton College in Wilson. “Lawrence is where I found my love for teaching from my Principal, Thomas Gregory and teacher, Charlotte Maxwell,” Roberson writes.
Some honors Roberson has won in her 26 years of teaching are N.A.S.A World Wide Web Computer Training Center Participate, Accelerated Reader Teacher of the Year, and Teacher of the Year.
She also coached both girls’ basketball and softball along with serving as class advisor.
“My job isto prepare students for the 21st century which includes teaching Exploring Careers and Microsoft application software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint,” Roberson writes.
The student who nominated Roberson wrote: “I think she should be Teacher of the Week because the information she provides [to] her students prepares them for their careers in the upcoming future. Mrs. Roberson is one of the nicest teachers I know. She has patience, is very informative, and always willing to help her students.”
