PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - WITN's Teacher of the Week for November 8 is Bailie Monahan of A.G. Middle School in Pitt County.
Bailie Monahan teaches sixth grade math at A.G. Cox Middle School. She is in her second year of teaching. Monahan graduated from East Carolina University with her Bachelor’s of Science in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Math and Science. She was also captain of the ECU Women’s Swimming and Diving Team.
Throughout middle and high school, Monahan’s admiration for teachers grew, and the inclination to educate became a goal she wanted to actively pursue. She decided to live in Greenville because of the welcoming Raider family and immense support she received during her internship at A.G. Cox.
The student who nominated Monahan wrote the following: “I nominate Ms. Monahan because she is always in a great mood, no matter if it is raining, a Monday, or a Friday, she is always in a great mood. She is always willing to help any student out, even if they are in a different grade. Ms. Monahan is a fantastic teacher. She is always very energetic and happy. She always encourages us to learn and push forward! I just want Ms. Monahan to know that she is an awesome an excellent teacher. She knows that some of her students lives are hard so she doesn't yell at them if they forget their homework. On any assignment, she gives us thorough instructions. She teaches all of her students well, that is why I currently have a 100% in math. I wish she could be my teacher for the rest of middle school. We love you, Ms. Monahan!”
Congratulations to Bailie Monahan!
