WITN'S Teacher of the Week: Nikki Grabill from the Oakwood School

This week's WITN Teacher of the Week is Nikki Grabill, a third grade teacher at the Oakwood School.

Grabill has a BA in Elementary Education with Reading Concentration from East Carolina University, and a North Carolina Teacher Certification K-6.

The person who nominated her wrote: "Nikki has been an inspiration to all of her students and coworkers with her kind mannerisms and true love for her students and watching them grow. Nikki and her class started an outdoor science movement at our school by winning the Scotties Trees Rock contest which has now blossomed into The Oakwood Oases. The Oases has a greenhouse, chicken coop, gazebo, raised gardens, and a traditional planting garden for the entire school to use. Nikki has also started a Maker Space movement at our school by incorporating building, movie making, coding, and so much more with her "Platform 9 and 3/4" maker space. She has incorporated Maker Mondays, Technology Tuesdays, and Theatrical Thursdays to excite the kids about critical thinking and problem solving in a hands on environment. Nikki has a true gift as a teacher to excite children in learning and nurturing them to develop into the best possible person they can be!"
