GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - UNC President Margaret Spellings was in Greenville Thursday afternoon with several new members of the UNC Board of Governors to visit ECU's campus.
As part of a state-wide tour of all 17 campuses of UNC system institutions, Spellings was the featured speaker at the ceremonial ribbon-cutting of ECU's Laboratory School, which took place on the campus of South Greenville Elementary School.
"The mission of this school is clear," Spellings says. "To recognize that students have different needs, they have different issues, they have different paces, and this is a school that is going to embrace each one of those students individually."
While at ECU, Spellings and the board of governors also visited the Pharmaceutical Development & Manufacturing Center to learn about global partnerships in education, and they met with ECU Chancellor Cecil Staton.
